Cyber-Warfare and Other Security Issues

From Chip Counterfeiting to Cyber-Warfare, our vast software-based world seems to be under attack.

VisionTech Components (whose website is “No Longer Available”, surprise) sold a “large quantity” of counterfeit chips to as many as 1,100 customers.  These chips are of unknown quality and have been installed in a multitude of systems, including ships, planes, and U.S. military systems.

Not only is the quality of these ICs suspect, but what a wonderful opportunity to slip a virus in behind the operational firewall of security systems.

A report in the Oct. 17th edition of the NY Times claims the U.S. considered Cyber-Warfare against Lybia last March.  We are not the only nation planning for CyberWar.
