Something May Be Wrong With Relativity.

If the evidence holds up, this will be the most earth-shaking news in physics since Copernicus killed Heliocentrism!  Scientists at the European Centre for Nuclear Research (CERN Labs) sent subatomic particles called neutrinos to a lab in Italy, a journey of 454 miles.  These little guys arrived at the lab in Italy 60 nanaseconds before they were supposed to.

Now, I get things from Fed Ex before I expect them,  house gues’s arrive before I expect them, so what’s the big deal?  These neutrinos where supposed to stick to Einstein’s  theoretical speed limit of light,  186,287 miles per second.  The neutrinos early arrival meant that they had to be zipping along at 186,415 miles per second, which, as we all know, is just utterly,  fricking impossible!!!!

Most physicists are skeptical, as they should be.  This is bigger news than cold fusion.  But, if this isn’t an aberration in a measurement, and 60 billionths of a second is quite measurable, this would literally mean a scientific revolution.   The modern world of physics is build on the solid foundations of space and time.  This would just screw everything up!!!  And it would be sooo exciting!

Time Travel

IF this observation holds up, it means those neutrinos just traveled backwards in time! It would negate cause and effect.  It would make the observer an important, if not the most important part of the equation.  It would mean the universe actually does revolve around ME!  (Well, maybe not.  It’s still early in the morning.)  Still, I can dream about gathering affidavits from your Aunts and Uncles, with video testimony about how annoying and evil you were as a child, and how utterly worthless you are as an adult, and take these and the pill back to your mom ten months before you were born…

Sounds like those neutrinos hopped onto the fast lane of Al Gore’s information superhighway with the pedal to the metal !!
