Gaming Isn’t All About Having Fun…Or Is It?

For more than a decade scientists failed to develop the structure of an “Aids-like” retrovirus.  They challenged  gamers playing Foldit, an experimental game designed to solve science problems and the Foldit gamers solved the puzzle in 3 weeks!

Foldit was developed by the University of Washington‘s Computer Science Department and U.W.’s Biochemistry department.   Foldit was developed following the “Games with a purpose” paradigm that let people play games that solve problems that are difficult to program a computer to solve.
